Overview of area youth soccer in 2024

CCSA and Houghton FC will collaborate in 2024 in order to offer the best recreational soccer experience possible for all youth in the area. All Summer recreational programs will be administered both by CCSA & Houghton FC. There are 3 different programs that an individual can choose from depending on their age.  One option for U13-U18 players, two options for U5-U12 players. U5-U12 players may choose to participate in one or both programs! Details of each program are available on the website.

What to expect with Houghton FC Summer Recreational season (Option B):

Houghton FC’s Summer Recreational season is for players in the U5 – U12 age groups.  The season will run from May 28^th until July 20^th.
Our league will be off EVERY OTHER SATURDAY through the summer season so we can all enjoy our beautiful Keweenaw summer.  Weekends off are: June 8, 22 and July 6.Some games will be played on weekday evenings.

Players/teams in U6: will play twice a week on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays, and alternating Saturdays

Players/teams in U8: will play twice a week on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays and alternating Saturdays

Players/teams in U10 and U12: will play on Tuesdays, Thursdays and every other Saturdays

Championship & awards: Playoff games will be on the last week and all participants and champions will receive medals!

We need parents to help with coaching! Our season can’t happen without Coaches! Grab your friend to co-coach your children. Co-coaching will ensure your child to be in the same team as his/her friend. If you’re interested in coaching, please sign up HERE!

Summer Recreational League (2024) will be played at Hubble Field at Michigan Tech

Special Requirements:

Players are required to bring the following items:

• Soccer cleats & shin guards (highly encouraged) 
• Soccer ball (U5-U8 size 3, U9-U12 size 4)
• Water bottle
• Athletic clothing suitable for activity
• No jewelries of any kind allowed
• Uniforms are encouraged but not required. Players must wear a solid red shirt, black shorts and a pair of red soccer socks, or a solid white shirt, black shorts and a pair of white soccer socks if you choose to not purchase a uniform kit.

Uniforms:

Uniform cost is separate from registration cost. Cost of kit:  

• Adult: about $70 plus shipping
• Youth: about $65 plus shipping  
• All teams in all age groups use the same uniform, one red jersey, one white jersey, black shorts, one pair of red socks and one pair of white socks
• Kits will be available through the online Team Store and links will be e-mailed after registration is complete
